Kathy Patrick has been working in the Early Education profession since 1998, after completing her Bachelor of teaching – the same year she became a mum. Since then she has worked as a Teacher, Casual Teacher and as a Director in a variety of Long Day Care Settings.

Kathy has been heavily involved as an advocate for children, families and the Early Education Sector in a variety of ways. She was part of the original development of the Transition to School Project with ICS and Wollongong City Council. Kathy was also involved in the push for 1:4 ratios for children under two. This was implemented through the new curriculum framework document that came out in 2012. She is currently involved with the “Quality Matters” campaign as the electoral convenor for Cunningham. This campaign is designed to increase recognition of the importance of Early Education in regards to children, families and the community, as well as professional recognition for educators in Early Learning sector. Kathy is also a Joey Scout Leader at her local Scout Group.

In 2009 she came to Boombalee Kidz to work as a teacher in the Pre-School Room. Kathy now works as the Manager of Curriculum and Staff Development. Researching different practices, ideas, theories, resources, training, conferences, in-services, and providing this information to the centres for them to incorporate into their curriculum. Her role involves visiting the centres regularly , participating in the day and then going back to her office to find the best ways to support the educators to provide a great curriculum. Kathy has recently completed her Certificate IV in Training and Assessment in order to provide greater training opportunities for the Educators working at all of our centres.

Next year Kathy is heading back to University to begin her Master of Education – Early Years.

 

lauren supervisorCentre Director – Lauren Wilson

Lauren has been working in the Early Education profession for 5 years. She completed her Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies in 2010.

Lauren joined the Rainbows in October 2012 as a teacher in the toddler room. In May 2013 she stepped up to the role as the nominated Supervisor for Rainbows Early Learning Centre.

I believe that the early years of a child’s life is important start for children to become interest in exploring and developing their foundations. Each child is unique and their own individual being, we support and encourage each child to their own individual learning capabilities.

 

mel rainbowsNominated Supervisor – Melissa Mathews

Melissa has a Diploma in Early Education and Care and is currently studying her Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood and Primary. Mel joined the Rainbows centre in 2012 and enjoys working within a wonderful team.   After working in the Preschool room for 2 years and the Toddler room, as room leader for 1 year, she took on  the role as Nominated Supervisor in August 2015. Mel is actively involved in the community with 3 children of her own aged 15, 12 and 9 heavily involved in sports.

Mel enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

I enjoy being involved in children’s learning and development and I look forward to welcoming your child and family to our centre.

 

kerrie rainbowsEducational Leader – Kerrie Bright

Kerrie completed her Bachelor of Education Early Childhood in 1994.

Kerrie has 22 years teaching experience across long day care, Primary schools and Preschool settings. Kerrie is very excited to be a part of the Rainbows Early Learning Centre and has taken on the role as the Educational Leader. She is also the Early Childhood Teacher in our Preschool room and is actively engaging in incorporating The Early Years Learning Framework. Kerrie has been actively involved in the accreditation process within a number of services. Kerrie has 3 children of her own aged 15, 11 and 10. Kerrie has brought to Rainbows a structured preschool program and school readiness program along with her commitment, knowledge and initiative to provide a motivating and enriching environment for all children.
